The most common material for 304 syphons is carbon steel, which is resistant to temperatures as high as 200°C. Butt welding or alloy steel with looping ports are two more materials from which they might be fashioned. One can adjust the length of the tube and add more coils to suit individual requirements. We use wound syphons to measure steam pressure. To avoid live steam coming into direct contact with the instruments, they are often connected between process taps and pressure gauges. Heat dissipation is another useful feature of syphons. This keeps pressure gauges safe from intense heat, which may otherwise damage them.
